Familiar with Xiaomi – the Apple of China? The company is well know for churning out affordable but high-quality smartphones and has recently branched out into making of other Smart devices including drone, smart rice cooker, Fitness band and now has just announced a follow up to its first generation of its electric bicycle dubbed Mi QiCycle Electric Folding Bike.
Developed and Marketed by Xiaomi backed iRiding, the Mi Qicycle Electric Folding Bike is made of a lightweight aluminum frame design ,weighs only weigh 14.5kg and as its name suggests is an electric Bike which can be folded into about half its size for easier storage & portability.
Xiaomi says the “Qicycle is not an ordinary bicycle” but instead is an electric folding bike with an integrated electric motor which can be used for propulsion. The Qicycle uses a 250W 36V electric motor and it uses Torque Measurement Method (TMM) to assist the rider’s pedal-power.
The Xiaomi Mi Qicycle Electric Folding Bike is powered by Panasonic 18650 battery made of twenty 2900mAh Li-ion cells which Xiaomi claims can assist the rider’s pedaling for 45 kilometers on a single charge and interestingly,there’s a Shimano 3-speed gearbox to help with power transmission when its runs out of power
The Xiaomi Mi Qicycle Electric Folding Bike comes with a 1.8-inch (160 x 128 pixels) screen and a smart meter that lets you set different riding needs .There are also a host of apps that logs your distance, speed, GPS location, calories burned, and synchronise them to a smartphone app via Bluetooth 4.0 LE.
The Xiaomi Mi Qicycle Electric Folding Bike is immediately available for order in China through crowd funding at 2999 yuan (US$ 455 / Rs. 30695 approx.)
