Tecno Boom J8

The release of the Tecno Boom J8 was highly anticipated by all lovers of the Tecno Boom J series. The Boom J series of smartphone is popular for the quality audio experience it gives to its users. Tecno added to the tension surrounding the release of the device by leaking out some photos and specs.

“The Tecno Boom J8 was announced at an event in Ikeja on March 31, packs a 5.5-inch 720p display, is powered by a Quad-Core Mediatek processor, has 2GB of RAM, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with Hios 1 on top, 13-megapixel camera on the back with LED flash, and a 5MP front-facing camera with flash.”

Tecno W4

The Tecno W4 was also highly anticipated before its release, and that’s because the phone was Tecno’s first-ever smartphone to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The W4 is the first of the Tecno W series of smartphones and was the first low-cost Marshmallow phone in Nigeria. The phone also ushered in Tecno’s brand new user interface HiOS.

“The Tecno W4 has a 5-inch HD display, is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad-Core MediaTek processor, has 1GB of RAM, 16gb storage ( Expandable to 64gb),8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera and powered by a 2500mAh battery which Tecno says would last 48 hours of usage. The tecno W4 runs on the latest version of Android- Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with 3G ,but no 4G connectivity options.”

Tecno L8

Tecno l8 - Tecno phones 2016

Tecno L8 was released at about the same time as Tecno W4, and the buzz about it got out only a week or two after. Speaking from personal experience, the phone is interesting to use as it has a lot of customizable features and gesture controls that you could spend the whole day trying out some new features on it. The only disappointing part(s) of the Tecno L8 is the 1GB RAM and the fact that the device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with no hopes of an upgrade from Tecno. Those two ‘commas’ were however effectively silenced by the massive 5050mAh battery possessed by the L8. Tecno surely knows the real meaning of the word ‘double-edged’.

“Aside its huge battery capacity {which is about its only selling point}, the Tecno L8 comes with a phablet size 5.5 inch HD display, powered by a 1.3GHz Quad-core processor and disappointingly boots Android 5.0 out of the box,but with Tecno’s new custom Ui – Hios. It has 8MP Auto-focus rear camera with Flash and a 2MP camera for selfies.”

Tecno Droipad 8 II (Tecno 8 II)

The Tecno Droipad 8 II, in continuation of the Droipad series, was announced towards the end of April and from what we saw of the device, it’s just a refresh of the Tecno 8H. The specifications of the device are nothing to boast about, though, with the high point being the 5,000mAh battery and the 8 inches display.

“It comes with dual SIM support with dual Standby. Like other recent devices from Tecno, the Tecno DroiPad 8 II comes with Tecno Boom player with which you can download, stream and share music from your favorite artistes. It has dual stereo speakers with a sound box located close to the charging port below the device”

Tecno L8 Plus

Tecno l8 plus - Tecno phones 2016

After seeing the complaints about the 1GB of RAM possessed by the Tecno L8, Tecno mobile decided to release a 2GB RAM variant of the Tecno L8 dubbed Tecno L8 Plus, with a slightly higher price tag. While this was a welcome development, it still. Did not address the issue of the now obsolete Android 5.0 Lollipop that shipped with the original Tecno L8. Believe me, if Tecno had just included Android Marshmallow with the L8 Plus, the device would have been the darling of all Android users in Nigeria and beyond.

“The Tecno L8 Plus is essentially the same as the Tecno L8 ,but with a larger 2GB RAM which may or may not result in faster performance. Aside the increase in RAM size to 2GB ,the Tecno L8 Plus and the L8 both has same specifications featuring – a phablet size 5.5 inch HD display , a 1.3GHz Quad-core processor and unfortunately still runs on Android 5.0 out of the box,but with Tecno’s new custom Ui -Hios.”

Tecno phonepad 7ii - Tecno phones 2016

The PhonePad 7II is Tecno’s latest tablet till date, released not too long ago. The device was first unveiled at the Jumia Mobile Week event held between the end of last month to the beginning of this month. The PhonePad 7II, as it name implies, is a half-smartphone half-tablet blend with functions of a smartphone and a tablet combined into one. Most of the specs of this phone are found in the Tecno DroiPad 8II, but the PhonePad 7II has a smaller screen size and of course a different name.

“The Tecno PhonePad 7II as the name suggests comes with a 7 ” HD 600×1024 IPS display and powered by a 1.3GHz Quad core processor and it is fueled by a 4100mAh battery with fast charging.”

Tecno Camon C9

Tecno camon c9 - Tecno phones 2016

Since the release of the Camon C8 in 2015, the Tecno Camon series have become like the Tecno equivalent of the Samsung Galaxy S series (S6 & S6 Edge, S7 & S7 Edge) of flagship phones. After many leaks and renders and videos, Tecno mobile has officially announced the device, and have confirmed the specifications the device is expected to feature. The part where the Camon series excels the most is the Camera, and the Tecno Camon C9 is no exception, featuring a Biometric Iris Recognition sensor, among a host of other spectacular features.

“The Tecno Camon C9 has a wide angle 13MP rear camera with flash light and a 13MP front facing camera. The Tecno Camon C9 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display and powered by an Octa-core Processor ,2GB RAM ,16GB of storage expandable to 128GB and fueled by a non removable 3000mAh battery.”
